Polydimethylsiloxane Silicone Oil Applications
Because of its special, excellent physical and chemical properties, Silane OSi DimeOSilM2000 can be used in many different industries, including:
FOAM PREVENTATIVE: Extremely small amounts of fluid effectively control foam in many processing operations, especially in non-aqueous systems.
Used as defoamers, lubricants, and other weather-resistant paint in the pharmaceutical, food, chemical, paint, and building materials industries.
LUBRICANT: The fluid provides excellent lubrication for most plastic and elastomeric surfaces. Lubricity with metals depends upon the combination involved. Care should be taken to select suitable metals for pumps and other items with moving parts.
Polydimethylsiloxane in Cosmetics: OSI DimeOSilM1000 Fluid is an important ingredient in hand creams, skin protectants, suntan lotions, and hair grooming aids because it forms a non-greasy, protective film that resists water and waterborne irritants, yet allows the skin to breathe. Literature is available that details the use of the fluid in cosmetics.
Polydimethylsiloxane VS silicone oil
Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and silicone oil are both silicone-based materials, but they have different uses and properties.
PDMS is a polymer that is often used in the manufacturing of flexible and stretchy materials, such as gaskets, seals, and coatings. It is also used in the medical industry as a coating for medical devices and in the construction industry as a sealant and adhesive.
Silicone oil, on the other hand, is a liquid that is made up of silicone molecules. It is often used in the cosmetic industry as a base for foundations, moisturizers, and other skincare products. Silicone oil is also used in the medical industry as a lubricant for medical devices and in the construction industry as a waterproofing agent.
Both PDMS and silicone oil have high thermal stability and good chemical resistance, making them suitable for a variety of applications. However, PDMS is more flexible and stretchy than silicone oil, while silicone oil is more viscous and easier to apply.
Polydimethylsiloxane Silicone Oil Safety & Storage
